A Moment I’ll Never Forget – Cayla & Ethan’s Wedding

Every wedding I play is special, but once in a while, there’s a moment that stays with me long after the last song fades. I recently received this touching note from Mary, the mother of the bride at Cayla and Ethan’s wedding. With her permission, I’m sharing part of it here because it meant so much to me — and captures exactly why I do what I do:

“I knew you were a special person when I first encountered you during the afternoon, prior to the ceremony. I was feeling a bit nervous, clearly a bit too bogged down with the details. When we met, you asked me how I was and I confessed my unsettled feelings, and I concluded by trying to center myself, telling you that I knew all would be fine, as long as there was love present. And to my astonishment, as we parted, you sat down at the piano and spontaneously played, ‘All You Need Is Love.’ My mother, who passed away too young, was also a gifted pianist – and somehow, in that moment, I felt like she was speaking to me, through you. It was so comforting and uplifting.”

Mary went on to say how much she and the guests enjoyed the music throughout the ceremony and reception. Her words about the dancefloor say it all:

“I can’t tell you how much fun we had on the dancefloor — either dancing ourselves or watching all the guests have a truly spectacular time.”

Here’s the original thank-you note.

If you’re planning a wedding and want a musician/DJ who brings more than just a playlist — someone who can tune into the moment and help shape it — I’d love to hear from you.
