Robert H. Treman State Park is a beautiful spot for a wedding reception. I recall a recent reception that I played at Treman Park that was quite involved. The day started with my playing piano for the ceremony at Anabel Taylor Hall on Cornell Campus. They had a nice vintage Steinway upright which I was hoping would be in good tune. Luckily, I attended the rehearsal the night before and found that the piano was quite playable! In addition to performing custom selected music by the bride and groom, I also accompanied 2 guest vocalists who sang during the ceremony.
After the ceremony, the guests made their way to Treman State Park for the reception where I welcomed them with live piano music. From my consultations with the couple, I knew that many of the guests would be musicians and so I played a variety of piano music including Ragtime, Boogie-Woogie, Classic Jazz, Pop and RnB. We also planned a surprise performance of a famous duet for flute and jazz piano by Claude Bolling with the bride’s sister playing flute and myself on the piano. It was very well received!
After cocktails, I DJ’d the dinner and reception with a dance party that was on fire. There were a lot of Bruce Springsteen fans in attendance and so the Bride and Groom requested some of the classics. Everyone rocked out~!
